Periodontal Therapy & Surgical Procedures
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease or Periodontitis is inflammation of the tissues, ligaments and bones that support the teeth. Periodontitis can cause bone loss around the teeth and may cause the teeth to become loose or even cause tooth loss.
Periodontal Therapy
The goal of periodontal therapy is to preserve the teeth in a state of health, comfort and function with appropriate esthetics. Treatment should alter or eliminate contributing risk factors, resolve inflammation, arrest disease progression and create an environment that deters recurrent disease.
Treatment for Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder
The most effective treatment for TMJ is to use a dental splint to decompress the joints, decrease muscle tension, and limit the effects of clenching and grinding of teeth. Splints are custom made at Capati Dental to correctly align the bite and are adjusted regularly by your dentist as structural changes take place. Click here for more information about TMJ.
Treatment for Sleep Apnea
The conventional method for treating sleep apnea is by use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. For those who can’t tolerate the CPAP machine, an oral appliance can be a viable alternative. Dr. Capati is aware of the medical ramifications of treatment for sleep apnea and networks closely with the medical community when providing treatment. Treatment for Chronic Facial Pain and Tension Headaches
In the event that conventional appliance therapy is not sufficient to relieve muscle pain from Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), intramuscular injections may help temporarily relieve the symptoms. Click here for more information about Botox® and Trigger Point Injections.
